Pennzoil introduces motor oil for hybrid vehicles

Burlington, Ontario – Pennzoil has announced the introduction of the first motor oil in Canada designed specifically for hybrid vehicles. The company reports that more than 3,000 hybrid vehicles were sold in Canada in 2004 and estimates the number to reach over 100,000 units by 2010.

Pennzoil says that hybrid engines have unique lubrication requirements, as they are designed to turn off when the car is idling and thus create harsh stop-and-go operating conditions for the engine. These conditions can accelerate harmful deposit formations; Pennzoil Platinum for Hybrid Vehicles is specifically designed to provide hybrid engines with extra protection against deposits. The full synthetic oil also improves fuel economy and significantly reduces emissions. The oil will be available at select installer and fast-lube locations beginning this month.
