Honda considering building hybrids in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand – Honda may be considering plans to assemble hybrid cars in Thailand if the government provides sufficient tax incentives, according to a report by the Green Car Congress. These would be the first hybrid Honda vehicles assembled outside of Japan.

Asian Honda has said that increasing demand for hybrid vehicles has prompted the company to look for more production plants outside Japan. Producing cars in Thailand using a high ratio of local content could enable to carmaker to ship its hybrid vehicles overseas at competitive cost.
