New Kia Rondo makes global debut in Spain

Seoul, South Korea - The all-new Kia Carens compact multi-purpose vehicle, which will be named Rondo in North America, made its world premiere at the Madrid Motor Show last week. It will go on sale in North America at the beginning of 2007.

The Rondo will be available in five- or seven-seater configuration, with a "shallow" fuel tank mounted within the rear suspension for a lower floor and more interior space. The Rondo will offer more than 400 litres (14.1 cu. ft.) of trunk space with five seats occupied, and up to 2,106 litres (74.3 cu. ft.) with all seats folded. European customers will have a choice of diesel or gasoline, while North American customers will be offered a 158-hp 2.4-litre 4-cylinder, or 185-hp 2.7-litre V6. All will use a four-speed automatic transmission with sport mode.
