GM to display historic concept cars at Amelia Island show

Detroit, Michigan - General Motors has announced it will display six historic concept vehicles at the 2007 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance show in Florida, which runs today through March 11. GM Global Vice President of Design Ed Welburn will be on hand as an event judge.

"As one of only three Concours events in the country, this is a design experience like no other, and we are glad to be showcasing GM designs spanning the years," Welburn says. "The historically significant cars and trucks at the Concours continue to be an inspiration to me and to other designers around the world."

GM will display its 1954 Cadillac Carrera Panamericana, a recreation of the car that finished 11th overall in the Mexican Road Race, built on a vehicle found in GM's collection that matched the original car's specifications, along with five Corvair concepts: 1962 SuperSpyder, 1963 Monza SS, 1963 Monza GT, 1967 Astro I and a 1969 Corvair, one of the last to be built, that was customized for GM executive Bill Mitchell.
