Richmond Hill, Ontario - Light vehicle sales in Canada were up 14.3 per cent in February 2008 over the same period in 2007, with an all-time record 110,951 sold, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers. The previous record, set in 2003, was 103,200 units.
"My economics professor always preached to me that price is a very strong variable in any economic equation and February proved him correct," DesRosiers said. "Serious price cuts at the MSRP level last fall and into this winter, together with aggressive incentives, together with some great products and you have a blow-the-doors-out February across most OEMs."
