Dodge Ram
For 2007, the Dodge Ram receives some upgrades. New standard features are a power accessory delay and three-flash lane change turn signal; there are also new-style headlamps and round taillights. New available options include YES Essentials stain-resistant fabric, and a “Snow Chief” plow prep package. On the outside, Electric Blue replaces Atlantic Blue. The SRT10 version has been discontinued.

There’s also a new Ram 3500 Cab & Chassis model, featuring a 6.7-litre Cummins turbo diesel engine, with six-speed Aisin automatic transmission, and available PTO and exhaust brake options.
The Dodge Ram comes in a number of configurations, including 1500 (half-ton), 2500 (three-quarter ton) and 3500 (one-ton). Cab choices are Regular (in short or long box), Quad Cab (short or long box) and Mega Cab (short box). Available engine choices on the 1500 are a 3.7-litre V6, a 4.7-litre V8 that can be ordered with flexible fuel capability, and a 5.7-litre Hemi V8; 2500 models use the 5.7-litre V8 or 5.9-litre inline six-cylinder Cummins turbo diesel; the 3500 is available with the 5.7-litre gasoline engine, or the 5.9-litre or 6.7-litre diesel versions.
The Ram is available in several trim lines. Features on the base ST include 17-inch steel wheels, 40/20/40-split front vinyl bench seat, heavy-duty vinyl floor covering, air conditioning, CD stereo with four speakers, engine immobilizer, tilt column, and fixed rear window.
The SLT adds 40/20/40 cloth bench seat, carpet floor covering, power windows and locks, cruise control, heated mirrors, and keyless entry.
The Laramie adds 17-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, 40/20/40 leather-faced split bench seat, dual-zone temperature control, power-adjustable pedals, security alarm, and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The Sport includes 20-inch (on 1500) or 17-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels (2500 or 3500), body-colour grille surround with chrome billet inserts, body-colour front fascia and rear step bumper, cloth-faced front bucket seats, full-floor centre console, and on the Mega Cab, a rear fold-flat steel floor.
Other packages include the TRX4 Off-Road Package, which includes on/off-road tires, tow hooks, anti-spin rear differential, and skid plates; the Power Wagon, with electronic front and rear locking differentials and front stabilizer bar, front winch, all-terrain tires, Bilstein gas shocks, skid plates and tubular underbody protection; and the Laramie H Package, with six-CD stereo, six-way power heated seats, and power sliding rear window.
Locked into its traditional battle with the Chevrolet Silverado and the Ford F-150, the Dodge Ram now faces competition from other corners, including the all-new Toyota Tundra and the Nissan Titan. Still, the Ram remains a powerful performer, and the Mega Cab offers up a huge interior. For many buyers, as it has always has, the final purchase decision will come down to brand loyalty.
