For 2007, Toyota pares down the Tacoma line-up: it’s dropped the Prerunner, the two-wheel drive Double Cab version available in 2006. For 2007, Access Cab models can be had in two- or four-wheel drive configurations, while the Double Cab is 4x4 only. (A regular cab model available to U.S. buyers is not sold in Canada.) There is also a new option package including air conditioning for the Access Cab 4x2.
Two engines are available. The Access Cab 4x2 uses a 2.7-litre four-cylinder with a five-speed manual transmission or available four-speed automatic, while the X-Runner Access Cab 4x2 and all 4x4 models use a 4.0-litre V6 with six-speed manual transmission or available five-speed automatic.
The Access Cab 4x2 includes 15-inch steel wheels, CD player with six speakers, front bucket seats, rear folding jump seats, telescopic wheel, dual manual remote mirrors, fixed intermittent wipers and removable tailgate.
The sporty X-Runner includes full skirt package, hood scoop, fog lamps, six-CD changer with wheel-mounted controls, leather-wrapped wheel, air conditioning, power windows, power locks with keyless entry, sliding rear window, cruise control, and 115V cargo bed power outlet.
The Access Cab 4x4 includes air conditioning, CD player with six speakers, front bucket seats, rear folding jump seats, 16-inch steel wheels, dual manual remote mirrors, fixed intermittent wipers and removable tailgate.
The Double Cab 4x4 includes air conditioning with rear seat heater ducts, CD player with six speakers, 60/40 split rear bench seat, power locks and windows and power mirrors. Towing packages can be added to all 4x4 models.
Numerous packages are available for the various Tacoma models, and add such features as alloy wheels, sliding rear window, chrome bumper and grille, fold-down front passenger seat and illuminated entry. There are also off-road, towing and TRD Sport packages available.
