For 2008, the Jaguar X-Type receives several new items as standard equipment, including ten-way power driver and passenger seats.

The entry-level model in Jaguar's line-up, the X-Type is available as the 3.0 Sedan and as the Sportwagon station wagon. Both models use a 3.0-litre V6 engine with five-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system that normally operates at about 60 per cent rear-wheel bias.

Features on the 3.0 Sedan include 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, 10-way power leather seats with driver's side memory, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wood trim, CD stereo, power locks, power windows, rear centre armrest, 70/30 split-folding rear seats and power sunroof.

The Sportwagon adds 17-inch alloy wheels, reverse park control, premium sound system, leather and wood steering wheel, garage door opener, roof rails, luggage tie-downs, cargo cover and net, and hidden storage compartment with 12-volt power outlet.

The 3.0 Sedan can be optioned with a Luxury Package that adds 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome mirror caps, reverse park control, leather seats with contrasting piping, Burl Walnut interior trim, wood and leather steering wheel, garage door opener and automatic headlamps.

Other available options for both models include Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, DVD-based navigation system, bi-Xenon headlamps, and Cold Climate Package of heated seats, heated windshield and headlamp washers.

Elegantly styled, the X-Type is an excellent opportunity to get into the Jaguar brand on a budget. It features a gutsy engine and decent driving dynamics, with a luxurious and comfortable interior. The Sportwagon goes one step further with all the Jaguar niceties, combined with the convenience of a cargo-hauler and a city-friendly footprint.
