Pontiac G6, 2005-2009

Offered as a sedan, coupe and convertible, the Pontiac G6 has been fairly reliable when it comes to its powertrains, but some models have had problems with the steering and brakes, reports Contributing Editor, Chris Chase.
Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky, 2006-2009

These fun-to-drive GM sports cars are less expensive than a Mazda Miata and are available with turbocharged engines, but they’re not as reliable or as practical. General Motors issued a recall for leaky differential pinion seals in early 2008.
Chevrolet Aveo, Pontiac Wave, Suzuki Swift+, 2004-2008

These Korean-built subcompact cars aren’t recommended by Consumer Reports which gives them a worse-then-average used vehicle rating, reports Contributing Editor Chris Chase. “Settling for questionable reliability shouldn’t be an option, even for a buyer on a budget,” he says.

Bring It On! 2009 Pontiac Vibe AWD, Part two

Winter conditions in Ottawa have produced sloppy, slippery, conditions and heaving asphalt. The Vibe’s AWD “is noticeably effective... when starting from a standstill,” says Senior Editor Paul Williams, and “the ride is good”. But fuel consumption is “greater than expected.”
Chevrolet Equinox/Pontiac Torrent, 2005-2008

Reliability-wise, the Equinox and Torrent suffered from various maladies, including manifold gasket leaks, fuel pump issues, creaking suspension and water leaks. Contributing Editor Chris Chase recommends looking for one “with some of the factory warranty intact.”
2009 Pontiac G8 V6

G'day mate! It's the G8, Pontiac's Holden import from Down Under. Rear-drive and an independent suspension make for great driving dynamics, says contributor Bob McHugh. The G8 challenges Euro and Japanese sports sedans for less money, he says.
Pontiac Grand Am, 1999 – 2004

Given the Pontiac Grand Am's poor reliability record, Contributing Editor, Chris Chase doesn't recommend buying one. There are other used cars with better reliability for about the same money, he says.
