2010 Subaru Outback 3.6R
The Outback’s roomy cargo area thwarts prying eyes with a retractable cargo cover and spring-loaded panel to meet the seatbacks, reports interior reviewer Michael Clark. Standard roof rails feature unique swing-out crossbars that require no tools to lock in place.

Subaru Legacy/Outback/Baja, 2000-2004
A common problem with the second generation Subaru Legacy and Outback models is leaky head gaskets in the base 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, reports Contributing Editor, Chris Chase. Potential purchasers should make sure this has been addressed, he says.

2010 Subaru Outback 3.6R
The 2010 Outback is “significantly larger” than its predecessor, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase, and offers a “badly-needed boost in interior space”, he says. His only criticism is its new styling, which he finds “rather plain.”

2010 Subaru Outback
All-new for 2010, the Subaru Outback is longer, taller and wider than the model it replaces and the starting price has dropped by a significant $2,000, says Senior Editor, Paul Williams.

2010 Subaru Legacy
The redesigned 2010 Subaru Legacy sedan features a lower price, more cabin and trunk space, a newly available six-cylinder engine, and standard all-wheel drive. Sadly, the practical Legacy Wagon has been discontinued, reports Senior Editor, Paul Williams.

Subaru Legacy/Outback, 2005-2009
The fourth-generation Legacy and Outback “seem to be holding up well” with relatively minor reliability issues, says reviewer Chris Chase. “It has proven to be a more reliable car than an A4 or S60/V70,” he says.

2009 Subaru WRX 265
Though it has a well-designed interior and easily accessible under-hood components, the Impreza WRX265 could use a broader range of options, such as a Navigation, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, and leather seats, says reviewer, Michael Clark.

Bring it on! 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5X, Part 3
There’s not much to dislike about the new Subaru Forester, says Contributing Editor Chris Chase. He liked its torquey four-cylinder engine, reasonable fuel economy, smooth transmission, and competitive price. “This is one vehicle I will actually miss,” he says.

Bring it on! 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5X, Part 2
Where many all-wheel drive systems run mostly in two-wheel drive mode and only route power to all four wheels when the going gets slippery, Subaru’s Symmetrical system powers all four wheels equally, all the time, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase.
