Arlington, Virginia – The Mercedes-Benz C-Class, redesigned for the 2008 model year, has received an overall “Good” rating, the highest possible, in frontal crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Two tests were conducted, one by the IIHS and the other by Mercedes-Benz.

The C-Class rated “good” in all but injuries to the test dummy’s left leg, where it was rated “acceptable”.

The IIHS reports that dummy movement was well controlled in both tests; during rebound, the dummy’s head hit the roof rail, and in the IIHS’ test, also the sun visor and grab handle. In each test, measures taken from the head, neck, chest and one leg indicated low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity.
