Wind and hail damage covered, says IBC

Montreal, Quebec – The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is advising Quebec residents affected by recent high winds and hail that most automobile and home insurance policies cover property damage caused by this type of event.

The IBC reminds policyholders that damaged sustained by vehicles is covered under car insurance policies if they have purchased “all risk” protection, “comprehensive” coverage or “specified perils” protection.

The IBC also advises policyholders to keep all receipts and bills for expenses incurred due to wind damage, and to take photographs or video footage of damaged property.
