Canadian competitors named for G4 Challenge

Bramalea, Ontario – Land Rover has announced the four Canadian athletes who will represent the country at the Land Rover G4 Challenge International Selections event in the U.K. early 2009, and who will be pared down to a single two-person team for the finals in Asia.

The finalists are Leanne Mueller of Bolton, Ontario; Sophie Deschamps of Gatineau, Quebec; Geoff Outerbridge of Gatineau; and Andrew Cameron of London, Ontario, who were selected from 17 athletes at the Canadian competition held at Kenauk, in Montebello, Quebec. At the U.K. event, one male and one female competitor from those four will be selected to represent Canada against teams from 17 other countries, in the three-week-long Land Rover G4 Challenge in mid-2009. The competition includes driving, running, bicycling, climbing, kayaking and other outdoor adventures.

“The Land Rover G4 Challenge epitomizes the spirit of adventure,” said Barbara Barrett, communications manager for Land Rover Canada. “After such an exciting weekend following these amazing athletes through the sprawling land of Kenauk, we’ve found the four competitors who we feel will represent Canada best in the Land Rover G4 Challenge International Selections event in the U.K. and then possibly the G4 Challenge Finals in 2009.”

The Challenge, which was inaugurated in 2003, includes participants from Australia, China, the Netherlands, Turkey, Austria, France, Norway/Sweden, the U.K., Belgium/Luxemburg, Germany, Russia, the United States, Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, Italy and Spain.
