Escalade Hybrid achieves 25 per cent fuel improvement

Oshawa, Ontario - General Motors of Canada has announced the all-new 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid achieves an estimated overall 25 per cent improvement in fuel consumption with its advanced two-mode hybrid technology, and as much as a 32 per cent improvement in city driving.

Offered as a single luxury package, the Escalade Hybrid has a starting MSRP of $93,450.  Its hybrid technology enables driving at low speeds on electricity alone, and also allows the engine to operate on just half its cylinders for longer periods, returning improved fuel economy in both city and highway driving.

“Cadillac is the only luxury brand offering a hybrid in this segment,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. “The Escalade Hybrid continues the roll-out of our award-winning two-mode hybrid technology, which dramatically reduces fuel consumption and emissions, and will be featured on more GM models in the upcoming months.”

The Escalade Hybrid has been named the official vehicle of the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival; Cadillac will also honour the highest-rated film with the 2008 Cadillac People’s Choice Award.
