Detroit, Michigan - General Motors has announced that it will reveal the Saab 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept at next month’s Paris Motor Show. The design study explores what a future open-air Saab could look like.

Featuring a canopy top and wraparound glass, the 9-X Air offers four-seat accommodation with the close-coupled proportions of a sports car. The canopy top folds flat and, when up, looks like a true coupe.

Designed in parallel with the 9-X BioHybrid concept, the 9-X Air shares its 1.4-litre Saab BioPower engine, which combines turbocharging, E85 bioenthanol fuel and hybrid technology. Its Paris debut marks 25 years since the first Saab convertible was revealed at the International Frankfurt Show.
