Kansas City, Missouri - Ford has announced the start of production of the new 2009 F-150 at its Kansas City Assembly Plant. The new model goes on sale later this month.
“Ford is the truck leader, and core F-150 truck buyers expect and demand the best truck on the market,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford Group Vice-President of Global Manufacturing. “Ford’s quality is on par with the best in the industry, and the team at Kansas City Assembly Plant is delivering a truck that is ‘Built Ford Tough’ with an unrelenting focus on quality and craftsmanship.”
The new model offers an average of eight per cent improved fuel economy across the entire line-up, with class-leading towing capability of 11,300 lbs and hauling capacity of 3,030 lbs.
Ford invested US$110 million in the plant for new tooling and equipment, including 24 new clearcoat robots for flexible automation in the paint shop, and extension of the box line to support installation of the new tailgate step and cargo management system.
