Checking tire pressure can help save fuel
With thousands of Canadians heading out on the highways for the Labour Day weekend, the Rubber Association of Canada (RAC) is reminding drivers to make sure their vehicles are as fuel-efficient as possible by measuring their tire pressures before heading out.

Eco-driving shows 24 per cent fuel improvement
Tests performed by the Ford Motor Company resulted in 48 drivers obtaining an average 24 per cent improvement in fuel economy as a result of "eco-driving". The term refers to specific driving behaviours that affect fuel economy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote safe driving.

European cars don’t meet climate targets
A new report by the European Federation for Transport and Environment found that the overall performance of the European automotive industry is not enough to meet proposed climate targets for new cars.

Report suggests U.S. could become fuel exporter
A new analysis of the refining industry by global management consulting firm Booz & Company suggests that shifting scenarios in energy could possibly result in the U.S. becoming a net exporter of gasoline by 2010.

Companies research crop residues for biofuel
Deere & Company, Archer Daniels Midland Company and Monsanto Company have agreed to collaborate on research to explore technologies and processes to turn crop residues into bioenergy products and feed.

Environmental NextCruise will reprise in 2009
NextCruise, an event for environmentally-friendly vehicles held in conjunction with Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise, has announced that the 2008 version was so successful that it will be repeated August 14 and 15, 2009.

The Toyota USA Foundation has presented a US$317,778 grant to Lehigh University in Pennsylvania to promote environmental literacy in the country's middle schools.
