A surprising truck: easy to drive, quick, smooth and a competent off-road performer. The only truck with a five-cylinder engine, this was still one more than its competitor, the Toyota Tacoma. With a healthy 242 hp and 242 lb.ft of torque available, the Colorado was very quick off the line, a relaxed highway cruiser and a backroads specialist. The low range of its four-wheel drive system pulled it over every obstacle, although like many of the competition, it took some time to engage. Most of the time, however, the Colorado managed with the high range 4x4. The cabin and instrument panel are nicely laid out and there's room in the back for two occasional passengers or additional cargo. The Colarodo Z71 gets the job done with a sporty flair.
