As truck people know, the important thing about GMC is that this is a brand that doesn't make cars. So if you buy a GMC, people will know you've definitely bought a truck. This heavy duty (HD) version ran the 6.6 L Duramax V8 diesel, that makes 360 hp and a staggering 650 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to an Allison six-speed automatic transmission, and enables the Sierra 2500 HD to tow 12,000 pounds. The peculiar thing is that this behemoth of a three-quarter ton truck ran 0-100 km/h in a rapid 8.7 seconds, during which time the engine and transmission spooled up, then let go like a sprinter out of the blocks. It's a regular Pro Street Diesel! Off-road, the Sierra drove obliviously over or through whatever obstacles presented themselves. Torque, tires and clearance this vehicle has in abundance. The cabin is pleasant, although you really have to haul yourself up into it. But the leather was nice, the big storage bins appeared useful, and the crew cab was spacious.
