What the Ridgeline loses in sheer grunt, it makes up for in user friendliness and versatility. Not that it won't haul; it will, but it's built to tow smaller trailers and boats up to 5,000 lbs. The Ridgeline's strength is being able to carry a couple of motorbikes or an ATV, plus accommodate the family in a passenger compartment that's as big as a Honda Accord's. Furthermore, it's rear independent suspension gives the Ridgeline a great ride and opens up the space between the rear wheels for an in-bed, water resistant, trunk. Of course, if box is full, you can't get into that trunk without unloading the truck, but overall, this is a clever idea for a truck. Off road, the Ridgeline managed, but its low ground clearance, and low-mounted tow package caused it to suffer badly when the going got tough. But the Ridgeline isn't really designed for such duty. What it is designed to do - provide a versatile means of transportation for the active family and their toys - it does well.
