The Tacoma TRD Sport was something of a revelation, as it nimbly scrambled through the off-road course. Engaging the low range was achieved immediately upon activating the control: no clunking, clanging or delay. The excellent ground clearance enabled it to deftly step through the obstacles without hesitation. On the road, the truck's manners rivalled those of a good handling car, where it demonstrated commendable acceleration, steering and braking. Ride quality was very good and the cabin was comfortable and sensibly organized. Along with the brawn that enables it to pull 6,500 pounds, the Tacoma TRD Sport is a sharp looking truck. A 115V power outlet in the composite-lined bed offers added utility.
